London Beauty Salon Talk: What Skin Peel Beauty treatment is?

We all know that skin peels can be great to treat a range of conditions including acne, sun damage, pigmentation, fine line and wrinkles, scarring as well as refreshing thick, tired and dull looking skin.

However the world of skin peels can be a confusing one. There are exfoliators, resurfacers and peels, all work to different strengths and perform differing tasks, which can mean it’s hard to know which one to choose.

Exfoliators are the gentlest way to refresh the skin. Working on the top layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum, it removes the dead skin cells revealing the new, healthy skin below. Exfoliators are topical and have no down-time.

Resurfacers, sometimes referred to as mild peels, are superficial treatments, meaning that they work on the very top layers of the epidermis and use enzymes and acids to refine and exfoliate. Resurfacers generally have little-to-no downtime following treatment.

Skin peels treat the top layers but also penetrate the mid to lower levers of the epidermis, delivering stronger, extended results. Because chemical peels are so active and deeply penetrating, downtime of up to 10 days can be expected.

Acne

During puberty we are assured by the adults around us that acne stops after the teen years. Unfortunately that’s true. Every spot that appears on the skin is a form of acne, so even if you’re past the worst of it you can still have outbreaks. In fact outbreaks are very common for both males and females from their 20s to their 40s, though we even see clients in their 50s and 60s.

Anti-Ageing Skin Peels

There are some things in life that are inevitable and ageing is one of them. As we age a lifetime of sun exposure and personal habits (smoking, alcohol consumption, dietary choices) catch up with us. Combined with the natural ageing process where collagen production slows and gravity takes its toll, we soon see the signs of ageing.

From your 30s onwards it’s very common to see evidence of fine lines and superficial sun damage, which gradually becomes more pronounced during the 40s and 50s.  Eventually skin may appear less smooth or tight that is once was, it may also feel drier, thinner and have a more uneven appearance.

We offer a bespoke skin peel packages based on your desired outcome using one of our three specially formulated anti-ageing skin peels.

Rejuvenation & Preventative

Skin peels are not just about addressing a skin concern, that can simply be an excellent way maintain the skin you have. At The Harley Medical Group we believe that prevention is better than cure, which is why we recommend anyone concerned about the future of their skin to consider rejuvenation treatments. These treatments perfect your look today while protecting and preparing your skin for tomorrow.

Uneven Skin Tone & dark spots

Uneven skin tone and dark spots are caused by melanin, the skin’s pigment, being present in a large quantity, or being poorly distributed and subsequently becoming visible on the surface of the skin.

Hyperpigmentation in the skin can last for years and may prevent you from achieving a clear and even complexion. Our range of skin peels, combined with our homecare range, will help speed up the skin rejuvenation process and prevent further pigmentation from appearing.
